Questions, Asked Frequently
about Daycare & Boarding
How Do I get Started?
In order to bring your dog for petcare services, you’ll first need to download the Skiptown app and complete your pet’s profile. Once vaccination records have been verified by our team, you’ll be able to schedule their first appointment.
What is a typical day of daycare?
During daycare, your dog will rotate through group play, rest time, and your choice of optional enrichment activities. Dogs can enjoy structured group interactions in a safe, supervised environment tailored to their needs.
If I’m not a member, can my dog still come to daycare?
Yes! Our free ‘Basic Membership’ is automatically applied to your account after you’ve created a profile for your dog(s) and added your location information in the Skiptown app. There are no fees associated with a basic membership! You’ll be able to access all of the services Skiptown has to offer: enjoy access to the bar & park with a purchased day pass, and our basic pet care services.
What vaccinations are required?
Your pup must be up-to-date on bordetella, distemper/parvo, and rabies vaccinations. Vaccination records must up to date and on veterinary letterhead.
To ensure the safety of our guests, we require all vaccinations be given by a licensed veterinarian. We do not accept dogs who are given at-home vaccinations.
How long after a spay or neuter can I bring my dog to Skiptown?
Your dog is not eligible to visit Skiptown for the first 14 days following a spay or neuter.
Are there any other requirements for my dog to be eligible for daycare or boarding services?
Yes, your pup must be at least 16 weeks old. All dogs older than six months must be spayed or neutered. Exceptions may be considered with a veterinary recommendation for delay.
What is a Welcome Day?
At Skiptown, we understand that your dog’s first day of daycare is a big step, and we want to make it as smooth and enjoyable as possible. That’s why we’ve designed our ‘Welcome Day’ program to ensure a seamless and positive experience for both you and your pup!
What to Expect on Welcome Day
1. Playgroup Confirmation: Upon arrival, our experienced Pet Care Associates will conduct a thorough assessment to confirm details about your pup and verify that we sort them into the best playgroup for your dog based on their size, temperament, and play style. This ensures that they are placed in an environment where they can thrive and have fun with their new friends.
2. Safe and Smooth Integration: We take great care to integrate your dog into their playgroups safely and smoothly. Our highly trained team will closely monitor their interactions and gradually introduce them to their playgroup, ensuring they feel comfortable and confident throughout the process.
3. Complimentary Daycare Enrichments: To give you a glimpse of what a day in the life of a Skiptown daycare dog looks like, we offer a First Day Photo: Snapshots of your dog enjoying their day and showing off which playgroup they fit into!
If my dog is sick, can they still come to daycare or boarding?
No. We ask that you keep sick pups at home until they feel better. We take the health and safety of all Skiptown dogs very seriously – at Skiptown, we use state-of-the-art cleaning equipment and protocols to prevent the spread of illness.
If a dog arrives at daycare or boarding sick, they will be sent home. We may request that they are cleared by a veterinarian before returning.
We also do not accept dogs that have an open wound or have had surgery in the last 14 days.
Are there medical risks associated with having my pup socialize with other dogs?
There are always risks associated when dogs socialize. At Skiptown, we take great pride in going above and beyond to make our facility the cleanest and safest; we verify vaccinations for all visiting dogs, have rigorous cleaning protocols (including regular, thorough sanitization with hospital-grade disinfectants), and expertly-trained staff. If your dog begins to show signs of any illness, we will immediately isolate them from the other dogs and contact you.
Any time your dog is interacting with other dogs, there’s an assumed risk that your dog could get sick.

Can I end my boarding appointment early?
Yes! You are always welcome to pick up your pup early, barring holidays when our support staff is not onsite to greet you. Please understand that we are unable to issue refunds due to shortened appointments.
What can my pup bring with her/him to daycare?
If your dog eats lunch or needs medication during the day, you can bring those items to daycare with them. We make it easy for you to customize your dog’s daycare schedule in the Skiptown app by allowing you to add meals and medication to your daycare session.
What should my pup bring with her/him to overnight boarding?
Your dog should come with all of their meals for the duration of their stay. Each kennel is outfitted with a raised bed and cozy blanket for your pet’s comfort. You can also add luxury bedding on to your pets stay during booking.
We also welcome small items from home like a blanket or t-shirt to keep your pet company overnight. See below for more information about food and medicine for your dog’s overnight stay.
If my dog needs to be fed, how should I bring their food?
Each meal, for the duration of your dog’s stay, should be in an individual, sealed bag. If your dog eats wet food, please provide the original sealed container, labeled with your dog’s name.
If food is not pre-portioned, there will be a $5.00, per meal, charge.
If your dog runs out of food during their stay, we will provide our house dry dog food at $5.00 per meal. This will be added to the final charge for your pet’s stay.
Meal instructions should be updated in your pet’s profile in the Skiptown app.
If my dog needs medication, what should I do?
We are happy to administer oral medications, vitamins, or supplements to your dog during their stay. All items must be provided in the original container and prescriptions must contain the prescription label. Please update the medication information and dosage instructions in the Skiptown app; you can add medication to your dog’s session when booking your daycare or boarding session. Please communicate any special instructions during check-in and our team will document that information in your pet’s profile.
Can I bring my dog’s favorite toy?
If your dog is boarding with us, we will allow a small comfort item. However, toys, beds, chews, and large items or blankets are not allowed.
What are the pick-up and drop off hours for daycare and boarding?
Daycare:
- Dogs can be dropped for daycare starting at 7:00 a.m., 7 days/week.
- Standard daycare pick up is by 7:00 p.m.
- For an additional cost, you can add “Early Drop Off” to drop off at 6:00 a.m. and “Late Pick Up” to pick up by 9 p.m.
- Please expect checking your dog in to take 5 to 10 minutes.
Boarding:
- Standard boarding drop off is between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. If you wish to drop off before 5 p.m., you are welcome to add a day of daycare to your boarding appointment.
- Standard boarding pick up is 9 a.m. If your dog is going to be here after 9 a.m., then you’ll opt in to the daycare option for your pick-up day and your dog will be included in our daycare program that day.
What if I have more than one dog?
We love having pups from the same family come to Skiptown together! We’re happy to accommodate your preference on whether they sleep together in the same kennel.
For every 4 daycare completed sessions with multiple dogs, you’ll earn a free daycare credit. You can view your progress towards earning a free daycare credit on your Credit Bank screen in the Skiptown App.
Anything I should know if I’m boarding over a holiday?
Holiday pick-up and drop off times, minimum nights per stay and cancellation restrictions vary by holiday and will be communicated in advance. Skiptown members receive early access to the holiday booking schedule.
A surcharge of $8.00 per day applies on holidays. Please check our Events Calendar for premium dates.
Do you have cameras for monitoring the pups?
At this time we do not have cameras accessible to clients. For our basic members, we send a session report every day with photos and a pup-date so you can see your pup’s face and get the full update on what your pup’s been doing! VIP and Pet Care Members get TWO daily reports.
Are there risks to my pup socializing with other dogs?
To minimize the likelihood for dog disagreements and injury, we assess every dog’s personality and require all dogs complete a welcome day before they’re able to participate in daycare or boarding at Skiptown. Our group play dynamic is a core part of our daycare and boarding experience. Dogs who exhibit extreme discomfort or aggressive tendencies will not be eligible for daycare or boarding services.
Even dogs who complete our welcome day may get into disagreements with other dogs. Like humans, dogs have bad days too! If your pup is involved in a disagreement, they may be asked not to return. Safety and fun are our top priorities, and we’re glad to be able to create an environment that looks out for everyone!
Can I schedule a bath for my pup during their stay?
Yes! You can add a grooming appointment to your dog’s day through the Skiptown app.
